Tibetan singer Yungchen Lhamo and Russian pianist Anton Batagov met through their mutual friendship with famed choreographer Bill T. Jones, so it’s only natural that their first musical collaboration would focus on movement and improvisation. Tayatha, a Buddhist term that means “it is like this,” marks a bold, post-minimalist foray into new music for Lhamo, whose work with Peter Gabriel’s Real World label has won her accolades from Rolling Stone, the New York Times and many more.
